Archives for Tarpon Estates/Ocean View Villas

  • 06 May 04  (Tarpon Estates page)

Tarpon Estates is no longer in the picture. Unfortunately, after the change of land use from REC (Recreational) to R3 (high density residential) took place, the owner has decided to re-sell the land. The Planning and Advisory Board had voted against the change of land use from REC to R3, recommending denial of this to the City Commissioners when this originally came up as they didn't feel there was enough proof that this change in land use was valid. There were a lot of promises made to the Commissioners by the new owner, saving the dunes, etc. but as usual, the promises are once again just words and since it is all about money, the land is once again up for sale. During the initial procedures the city manager stated that only 8 units could be built on this land....why does the sign say possible 9 units? Why is there always false advertising that will again bring in a new developer for the people of North Beach to fight?
